Calcined petroleum coke (CPC) is a carbon-rich material that's produced by calcining petroleum coke in a high-temperature process:
  • ProductionCPC is made by calcining petroleum coke, also known as green coke or raw petroleum coke, at temperatures of 1200–1400°C. This process removes volatiles and increases the carbon to hydrogen ratio of the petroleum coke.
  • PropertiesCPC is a high-purity carbon material with a low ash content. It's electrically conductive, which is important for aluminum smelting.
  • UsesCPC is used in many industries, including:
    • Aluminum smelting: CPC is used to make anodes for aluminum smelting.
    • Steel production: CPC is used as a carboraiser in steel plants, especially those making high-grade steel.
    • Graphite production: CPC is used as a feedstock for the production of synthetic graphite.
    • Deep-well applications: Calcined petroleum coke breeze is used in deep-well applications.

Ferroalloys are alloys of iron (Fe) with a high proportion of one or more other elements such as manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), chromium (Cr), or vanadium (V). They are primarily used in steelmaking and the production of alloys to impart specific properties to steel and cast iron.

Key Ferroalloys and Their Applications:
  1. Ferro Manganese (FeMn)

    • Purpose: Adds strength, hardness, and wear resistance to steel.
    • Application: Commonly used in the manufacturing of structural steel and reinforcing bars.
  2. Ferro Silicon (FeSi)

    • Purpose: Acts as a deoxidizer and improves the strength and magnetic properties of steel.
    • Application: Essential in the production of stainless steel and electrical steel.
  3. Ferro Chrome (FeCr)

    • Purpose: Provides corrosion resistance and hardness to stainless steel.
    • Application: Used in the production of stainless steel and other specialty steels.
  4. Ferro Vanadium (FeV)

    • Purpose: Enhances tensile strength, toughness, and resistance to wear and fatigue.
    • Application: Used in high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steels.
  5. Ferro Molybdenum (FeMo)

    • Purpose: Enhances strength, hardenability, and corrosion resistance.
    • Application: Used in stainless steel and tool steels.
  6. Ferro Titanium (FeTi)

    • Purpose: Acts as a deoxidizer and grain refiner.
    • Application: Used in aerospace and automotive industries for lightweight and durable alloys.
